Manager Procurement – SGL


Overview of the Role:
As a supply chain and logistics expert, you will spearhead the overall purchasing process of raw material (mostly cotton) from ensuring competitive buying to stock optimization. Some of your main priorities will include ensuring quality control, implementing cost effective strategies and adhering to the company’s policies and procedures on supply chain management. In this role, you will be leading a team and will report to the Head of Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the purchasing and contracting for materials, supplies, equipment, contracts/agreement, and services.
2. Explore new suppliers, materials and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery. Reduce single source dependency.
3. Monitor and update relevant departments regarding the impact of market change and potential effects on supply. Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimizing cost.
4. Share key raw material monthly analysis for future forecasting.
5. Ensure that robust purchasing policies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets.
6.Maintain effective relationships with client businesses by being an appropriate interface between procurement and suppliers.
7. Investigate and solve problems resulting from material shortages to ensure that production operations not interrupted.
8. Liaise with R&D and Quality teams for new development, alternate material / source development and ensuring that incoming material inspection is done timely.
9. Analyze and benchmark all purchasing activities to ensure the cost of material remain competitive.
10. Create a team culture that focuses on employee engagement; developing capability, fostering ownership and igniting passion in the team.


  • Knowledge of Technical Textiles, Procurement, Planning, Logistics, MRP, Inventory Management, Quality, Costing
  • SAP Supply Chain Module
  • 3+ years of experience of managing a team
