MIDAS SAFETY PUBLISHES ITS SUSTAINABILITY REPORT FOR 2024
GRI report documents progress in the company’s achievements and commitment to its economic, environmental and social impacts.
Toronto, Canada — 04 June 2025 — Midas Safety, a global leader in protective gloves and PPE solutions, has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, published under the theme “Making Safety Sustainable.” The report outlines year-over-year progress under the Management Framework focused on generating sustainable value across Governance, Social, Environmental, and Economic domains across seven key sustainability pillars: People, Climate, Water, Energy, Waste, Product, and Packaging.
Now in its fourth edition, the GRI-compliant report demonstrates how Midas Safety continues to reduce its environmental footprint, invest in social development, improve operational performance, and engage value chain partners across key geographies across the globe
Highlights
- Carbon Footprint intensity decreased by 14% despite higher production volumes
- Electricity consumption dropped by 19%, outperforming reduction targets
- Water usage optimized through leaching improvements, reuse, and ETP expansion, saving over 22,670 m³
- 2,941 MT of waste diverted from disposal through circularity initiatives
- Packaging plastic usage dropped by 18% through material substitution and light-weighting
- Product innovation delivered eco-aligned designs with lower embedded impact
- Employee training averaged 23.4 hours per worker; women in management at 19%
Key Initiatives and Strategic Enablers
- 67 decarbonization projects implemented across 12 manufacturing sites
- Expanded renewable energy capacity with 6.14 MW of solar PV now operational
- Launched the Climate & Energy Forum, a cross-functional governance model to share performance updates and solutions
- Strengthened supplier engagement through the Midas E.S.N.S.(Essence) platform, facilitating shared learning on carbon footprint, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and EU regulations
- Upgraded effluent treatment, introduced smart metering, and improved water-stressed site audits
- Contributed USD 4.4M across 40 CSR partnerships in health, education, and climate resilience
